  14. Chapter 8: Winnie is reluctant to believe their story initially because she doesn't believe in fairy tales. The Tuck family speaks with such a peculiar dialect because they are over 100 years old and unrefined. Winnie is feeling so good about her decision to strike out on her own because she felt her parents gave her no freedoms or opportunities to make her own decisions out in the world. She also felt like the Tuck's were kind and friendly. The stranger in the yellow suit overhears the whole story about the Tucks and goes unnoticed.

Chapter 9: The oft-repeated question was when Winnie asked "Are we almost there yet?" When the two boys arrived home the first thing they did was run to the pond and jumped in. When Angus Tuck asked "Does she know?" he meant does Winnie know the secret of the spring and how it gave the Tuck's eternal life.
